SEO for OkayCMS — Full Optimization
SEO for OkayCMS — full technical optimization
OkayCMS is convenient for launching a store quickly, but a number of its technical decisions need manual work before the site lives comfortably in search.
What I check and configure
- Duplicate pages: filters, sorting, pagination, a product in several categories;
- canonical URLs — so variations stop competing with the main page;
- meta tags from templates, with manual override for the pages that matter;
- structured data for products, reviews and breadcrumbs;
- sitemap and robots.txt, reconciled with each other;
- language versions with correct hreflang, if the store is bilingual;
- speed — in search it has a direct effect.
Platform specifics
Two things worth knowing about OkayCMS in an SEO context. First, the platform has two separate identifier spaces — one for the product and one for the variant. It is easy to put the wrong one into markup or a product feed, after which external services start confusing your listings.
Second, the core has no caching layer, so page speed almost always needs separate work — and it affects both visitor behaviour and how the page is assessed.
What is not included
Copywriting and link building. Technical optimization removes the obstacles — content comes next.
