Internal Linking

Internal Linking
Contents

    Internal linking is an underrated but powerful SEO instrument: the right links between pages distribute "weight", help Google understand your structure and lift priority pages — without a single external link.

    What internal linking gives you

    • weight passed to priority pages;
    • better crawling and indexation;
    • a signal to Google about topical relationships;
    • visitors staying on the site longer.

    What gets optimised

    • orphan pages fixed (those with no inbound links);
    • meaningful anchors (not "here" or "read more");
    • links from strong pages to target ones;
    • a logical structure (hubs and clusters).

    The hub-and-spoke structure

    A priority page (the hub) collects links from topical articles (the spokes), which are also linked to each other. That concentrates weight and signals your expertise in the topic to Google.

    Orphan pages

    Google treats pages with no internal links as unimportant. Linking brings them back to life and back into contention for positions.

    Common questions

    Does it work without external links?

    Yes — this is an internal resource, entirely under your control.

    How many links per page?

    As many as are logical and useful, without spamming.

    Does it suit a store?

    Yes, especially linking categories, products and the blog together.
