Schema.org Markup for WooCommerce
Schema.org structured data for WooCommerce
Markup tells a search engine what is actually on the page: a product, a price, availability, a rating. That determines whether search shows a rich snippet with stars and a price, or an ordinary link.
What I mark up
- Product: name, image, description, SKU, brand, price, currency, availability;
- Reviews and ratings — the source of the stars in results;
- Breadcrumbs — a path instead of a long URL in the snippet;
- Organisation — contact details, logo;
- FAQ on pages where questions and answers genuinely exist.
The main WooCommerce problem
Duplicated markup. WooCommerce adds its own, the SEO plugin adds its own, the theme adds a third. The result is three descriptions of the same product on one page, sometimes with different prices. The search engine receives contradictory data and may ignore all of it.
So the work often starts not with adding markup but with auditing what is there: keep one source, switch the rest off.
About expectations
Markup does not improve rankings directly. It affects how the snippet looks — and that affects click-through. A rich snippet with price and stars clearly outperforms a plain link, but the search engine has to decide to show it, and there are no guarantees.
