OkayCMS in 2025: A Review of the E-commerce Platform

OkayCMS is a Ukrainian-first e-commerce platform. Here is an honest look: what it does well, who it suits and where its limits are.

Architecture

OkayCMS runs on PHP 7.4–8.0 with the Smarty 3 template engine. MVC structure, WebP support; the core only caches modules, Redis has to be added separately. The admin panel is modern and easy to navigate.

Strengths

• Local-first: the main Ukrainian carriers and payment gateways work out of the box
• Performance: WebP out of the box; Redis caching has to be set up separately
• SEO: a solid baseline structure, SEF URLs, schema.org
• Admin: a usable interface with bulk product operations

Weaknesses

• A smaller module ecosystem than OpenCart or WooCommerce
• Fewer developers on the market (though rates are lower)
• Documentation mostly in Ukrainian and Russian

Against the alternatives

OkayCMS vs OpenCart: OkayCMS has the more modern stack and a better admin; OpenCart has the larger community.
OkayCMS vs WooCommerce: OkayCMS is purpose-built for e-commerce, WooCommerce is more flexible but heavier.

Who it suits

A good fit for new mid-sized e-commerce projects (100–50,000 SKU) where performance and local integrations matter.
